Francesco Serafini was born in Perugia in 1959 under the constellation of the Scorpion. After classical high school, he graduated at the age of 23 with top marks in chemical engineering. During his studies he retained a latent passion for the classics, archaeology, anthropology and esoterics, which was ready to emerge in his future artistic evolution. After a couple of years working in the chemical industry, he left his work as an engineer in 1998 and dedicated himself to teaching.
His ideal master is Salvador Dali. The almost
hermetic scenes of the great artist have for Francesco always been a language
closest to his conception of the universe.

In 1995 he met the teacher Zhao Ming Hua, the acupuncturist and great master of the ancient lineage of martial arts, of Taiji and Qigong. The discipline of Taiji reawoke in Francesco unexpected gifts and abilities. After following the teachings of Zhao for fifteen years, Francesco is now a master of Qigong. This discipline is a substantial part of his being, and is reflected in all of his works of art.
The works of Francesco are the result of a thought, an abstract philosophy: the putting onto the canvas a concept which is already finished. “Every painting I do is already complete in my mind, it is just a question of technique.” In art there is the possibility to express a vision of reality that is, first of all, philosophical. The great spirals in the sky that seem to be derived from cubism, in reality express a vision of reality that doesn’t have a Euclidean consistency, but is only a field of mass-energy.
